Quinebaug Kennels is offering for sale:

"Mandy"
14 month English Springer Spaniel

Mandy was just purchased by Quinebaug Kennels at 14 months. She was too much dog for her elderly owner who bought her from a breeder. Mandy's hobby was chasing cats and chickens and finding moles. We tried her on birds, and she gave us rope burn trying to chase them. We realized that is a pup with great drive and heart, and she needs to be trained with lots of foundation obedience, manners, and field work.

We plan to put at least 2 months of training into her before she will be sold. She is a powerhouse and will make an outstanding field dog. She will be whistle and voice trained, steady to flush and shot, e collar conditioned, house trained, and socialized. Mandy is spayed. If you are looking for a young dog that will be ready to hunt, Mandy will prove to meet your expectations.

"Piper"
3 year old German Shorthair Pointer

We got Piper in September of 2006. He was a family pet whose owners just could not keep him. He comes from outstanding bloodlines with both sire and dam achieving their AKC Master Hunt titles. Piper had never hunted before, so I tried him on birds and he pointed every bird I put out. Since then, Piper has had 4 months of intensive training. He is extremely athletic and focused in the field. He is whistle and voice trained, e collar trained, steady to the bird, flush and shot. He retrieves to hand. He is not a huge running dog, so he hunts wonderfully within sight. Since he was raised in a home, he is a kind and gentle dog that is very well socialized and people oriented. I have been using Piper to guide with this season, and he has been gaining lots of field experience. Piper will make a wonderful pet and field companion for someone who is looking for the best of both worlds. He is an adult neutered male.

"Hi Jennifer:

I wanted to let you know how Piper is doing. Right from the first night we hit it off - he is getting along fine with my Brittany and laying down on my lap in the recliner. Butch let him on the leather couch with him, that's where they sleep. I took him on a hunt just two days after taking him home. He is awesome - it's like we have been together all his life, he follows command joyfully. We put out 14 pheasants. Butch found 2, Piper found 12, we shot all and Piper retrieved all to hand. I will continue with the yard work as he seems to enjoy working for me. We have an orchard at the end of my road that I take Piper to so he can run. I want to thank you for all the work you put into Piper - it really shows. He is a beautiful dog, a great bird dog, and is a welcome member of our family.

Thank you, Richard Swenson"

Congratulations to his happy new owner.  Piper has already warmed a new spot on his couch as well as his heart!

"Joe"
3 year old German Shorthair Pointer

Joe was purchased to be one of my personal guide dogs. He is a 3 year neutered male from very good bloodlines. He is a lot of dog! He is a power house full of drive, energy and lots of birdieness. Joe was raised in a kennel out west, and was purchased to be my guide dog. I have since had him as a house dog part time. I have been using Joe this season to hunt upland birds, and have my labs flush the birds he points. He is trained to be steady to the flush and shot. He will retrieve to hand. He honors other dogs nicely, and will retrieve when I release him to do so. While he hunts relatively close, he covers a lot of ground. His points are extremely intense. It is awesome to watch him work. He will only be for sale to the right person who likes hard working dogs with lots of power and desire. He is way too much dog for the average hunter!

Quinebaug Kennels only occasionally offers started to trained dogs for sale. Typically they are a product of being "over dogged" by their previous owners, and we are given or purchase these dogs in hopes of giving them a better life. These dogs love to hunt, but their owners did not have the time or knowledge about handling them. We change these dogs. We socialize them extensively, instill manners and discipline, and apply countless training hours to restructure them into happy, obedient companions capable of being wonderful house pets and hunting dogs to the right person. Our expectations for all of these dogs are to become pets and working dogs...Not kennel dogs! Please contact Jennifer by email for more information on any of these dogs. The cost of these dogs reflects the time, training, and efforts that we have put into them. We hope to find owners who will appreciate and love them, and enjoy the benefits of professionally trained dogs.
